Gilbert R. Manso, 79, of New Bedford, formerly of 1197 Robeson St, Fall River, died Saturday May 3, 2008 at Mass. General, Boston after an illness. Born in Fall River, son of Bernardino & Angelina (Perry) Manso, he lived in Fall River most of his life. Prior to his early retirement in 1984, Gilbert had worked as a bartender at Golden Dream, the former Luke's Lodge, Crandall Rd, Tiverton. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was also a lifetime member of the Elks, Fall River Lodge. Survivors include: siblings, Fred & Louis Manso both of Fall River, and Ruth Souza of Florida; his caretaker, Natalie Sullivan of Fall River; several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late John, Raymond, Julius & Joseph Manso, and Nora Dugan. His funeral was private.
