Gilberta Sousa, 93, of Fall River, wife of the late Manuel B. deSousa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2019 after a long illness. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Segunda (Oliveira) Pimentel. She loved working, gardening, cooking and baking her specialties, sweet bread  and apple pie. A devoted wife, mother, and Vavo, Gilberta also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She leaves: her children, Yvonne Ferreira and her husband, Jorge, Jorge Sousa and his wife, Gabriela, both of Westport, Paul B. Sousa and his wife, Maria, of New Bedford, Manuel Sousa and his wife, Kathy, and Margaret Santos ( late husband, Armand) both of Fall River; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Almorinda Reis and Cecelia Brazil. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, September 25th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
