Gilda C. "Pilota" (Viveiros) Viveiros, 82, of Fall River, widow of Guilherme G. Viveiros, passed away at home on Monday, January 14, 2019, after an illness. Born in Pico Vermelho Bretanha, St Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Antonio V. Viveiros and the late Rosa (Medeiros da Costa) Viveiros, she emigrated to Fall River in 1967.
Employed in the local textile industry for many years prior to her retirement in 1998, she was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (I.L.G.W.U.) now called UNITE. Gilda loved to garden and crochet. A devoted mother and grandmother, she also enjoyed baking, sewing and caring for her family – especially her grandkids.
Survivors include: two children, William G. Viveiros (wife Katherine) of Willington, CT, and Suzanna V. Baptista (husband George) of Fall River; a daughter-in-law, Fatima Viveiros of Fall River; a brother, Jose Viveiros of Swansea; five grandchildren, Jessica Viveiros, Kyle Viveiros, Preston Viveiros, Julianne Viveiros, and Cole Viveiros; a great grandson, Aaron Joseph Ferreira; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Joseph M. Viveiros; and a sister of the late Manuel Viveiros, Sofia Benjamin, Maria Rosa Viveiros, Silvana Carvalho, and Antonio Viveiros.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 19th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
