Gilda
Cabral
d. Feb 19, 2023
Gilda (Diogo) Cabral, 99, of Fall River, wife of the late Alfredo Cabral, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at St. Anne's Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Antonio M. Diogo and the late Mamie E. (Rego) Diogo.
Prior to her retirement she was an inspector in the local textile industry for many years. A master of crocheting and knitting, she also loved gardening, cooking, and baking, her specialty being walnut cupcakes. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino and traveling to such places as Las Vegas, Europe, Florida, California, and back to her homeland in the Azores. As a devout Catholic she faithfully attended Mass, prayed the rosary daily, and was a member of her church's Holy Rosary Society. But what was most important to Gilda was spending quality time with all her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves her loving children, Louis Cabral and his wife, Eva, of Assonet, Antone Cabral and his wife, Lucy, of Fall River, Alfred Cabral and his wife, Sheryl, Edward Cabral and his wife, Eileen, both of California, Elvina Soares and her husband, Sam, Mary Pavao and her husband, Antonio, both of Westport, Nelly Silva and her long-time companion, Paul Aparicio, of Fall River, and Margaret Trapilo and her husband, Richard, of Fairhaven; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her sister, Elvina Arruda (late husband, Jose) of Fall River; one brother-in-law, Jose DaCosta of Westport; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Raul M. Diogo, Leonor Rego, Jaime Diogo, Maria Pavao, Matilde Miranda, Emeliana Carvalho, Libelia Tavares, and Odilia DaCosta.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, February 27th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Gilda's memory to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 510 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959
