Gilda Miranda Raposo, also known as "Vintua", 86, of Fall River, widow of Joao "Marralha" Alves Raposo, died Sunday, September 20, 2009 unexpectedly at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving children. Born in Remedios da Bretanha, St Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Manuel & Mariana (Oliveira Soares) Pacheco Miranda, she emigrated to Fall River in 1944, became a US citizen in 1949 and worked in the local textile industry for many years – retiring in 1966. Mother of John M. Raposo (wife-Maria d'Estrella)of Swansea, Manuel M. Raposo of Maryland, Gilda Osborn (husband-Michael) of Boca Raton FL, Linda Berube (husband-the late Norman) of Tiverton RI, Mariana Camara of Portsmouth RI & Maria Moskoff (husband-Alan) of Somerset. Sister of Antonio Pacheco Miranda of Swansea and the late Jose, Manuel, Joao & Manuel Pacheco Miranda, Maria M. Reis & baby Olivia. Grandmother of Sarah Raposo, Kevin & Katharine Osborn, Jason, Scott & Justin Berube, Kristina Arruda, David Roderigues and Benjamin & Micah Moskoff. She also leaves 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her funeral Mass was Thursday, September 24 at St Anthony of Padua Church. Following the Mass, pallbearers Jason Berube, Kevin Osborn, Scott Berube, Justin Berube, David Roderigues, and Benjamin Moskoff brought Gilda to her final resting place at St Patrick Cemetery.
