Gilda F. Salvador, 85, of Fall River, widow of Jose Salvador, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Catholic Memorial Home. She was born in Ajuda, Bretanha, on the Island of Sao Miguel, in the Azores. She was the daughter of the late Manuel Remigio Fernandes and the late Guilhermina Viveiros Fernandes, and emigrated to Fall River in 1969.

Her family and the Church were her passion. Gilda was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner at Espirito Santo Church. She was a member of its Holy Rosary Society. Gilda attended mass daily in which she was also the Lector. She volunteered as part of the kitchen staff including making sweet bread and malassadas. Gilda worked very hard with the Bazars. She volunteered at the annual Holy Ghost Feast at Kennedy Park. She was also a member of the Flint Senior Center and enjoyed playing bingo and going on their bus trips. Gilda in her younger years enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by: five children, Gilda Medeiros (husband Frank) of Cranston, R.I., Mary Salvador of Fall River, Joseph Salvador of Fall River, Vasco Salvador (wife Denise) of Middleboro, and Linda Covell (husband Steve) of Greensboro, N.C.; three siblings, Deolinda Vasconcelos of Fall River, Otilia Silveira of Canada, and Jose Fernandes of Canada; eight grandchildren, Kyle Viveiros, Daniel Viveiros, Jordan Salvador, Eric Salvador, Nicole Pare, Justin Salvador, Jocelyn Salvador, and Craig Salvador; three great grandchildren, Brayden, Beckett, and Adrien; and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Maria Viveiros, Manuel Fernandes, and Ramiro Fernandes.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, April 17th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a donation in Gilda's memory to the Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Ave, Fall River, MA 02720
