Gilda Sousa, 72, of Fall River, wife of the late Luis deSousa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning after a brief illness. Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel L. and Mariana (Viveiros-Manica) Raposo. She worked in the local textile industry for many years prior to her retirement. Gilda loved cooking, baking, and walking. She also enjoyed her telephone conversations and watching the Portuguese Channel. A devout Catholic, she would pray the rosary daily. But what was most important to Gilda, was family, having a full house is what made her happy. She leaves: her loving children, Leonard Sousa and his wife Aprille of Fall River, Janice Cabral and her partner Cynthia Cruz of Fall River, and Diane Flint and her husband Herbert of Berkley; four grandchildren, Nicole Cabral, Shaun Cabral, Tyler Flint, and Montana Flint; two great-grandchildren, Kiana Cabral and Cayson Pacheco; two brothers, Antonio Raposo of Westport and Manuel Raposo of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Jose Raposo, Maria Helena Simoes, Basilo Raposo, and Gilda Marie Raposo. A prayer service was held on Saturday, June 2nd, during calling hours in Fall River Chapel. Her private cremation followed.
