Gladys B. Machado, 83, of Fall River, widow of Lawrence Machado Sr, passed away at home on Monday, April 3, 2017, after a short illness. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Chester & Agnes (Stott) Berryman, she resided in Swansea most of her life.

Employed for many years in the local garment industry at various shops, including James Sportswear, she also worked as a Bristol Elder Services senior helper, and in home jewelry sales.

Gladys was a true friend to all. She loved music & dancing (and was even a DJ at one time), and enjoyed going to the casinos and being active on Facebook and Pogo. She also loved animals, and was known as a catlady.

She is survived by: two children, Dorna Sousa and Randy Machado; four grandchildren, Richard Sousa, Dr. Jason Sousa, Heather Simmons, and Amanda Simmons; five great grandchildren, Keanu Hernandez, Kaeneah Simmons, Fallon Sousa, Garrette Richardson, and DeSean Daniels; one great great grandchild, Keanu Hernandez, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Joyce Silvia, Steven Pettey, Kenneth Berryman, and Randall Berryman; and friend & caretaker, Debbie Coderre. She was also the mother of the late Lawrence Tobin/Machado, Jr and Cindy Simmons; and a sister of the late Chester Berryman, Jr., Randall Berryman, Kenneth Berryman, Constance Pettey, Joyce Berryman, and Richard Berryman.
