Glaucia F.M. Couto, 92, of Fall River, wife of the late Joao Casanova Couto, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and family on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Hathaway Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.

Born in St. Michael's, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Marcelino Felix de Melo and the late Rosa (Ferreira) de Melo.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as an assembler at Texas Instruments in Attleboro for many years. She loved sewing and traveling, especially to her homeland in the Azores.  A very kind and concerned woman, she would always place the needs of others before her own. A devout Catholic, Glaucia was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Angels and, most recently, Good Shepherd where she faithfully attended Mass.

She leaves: her three loving children, Carlos Couto and his wife, Eulalia "Laurie", and Ana C. Medeiros and her husband, Joao, both of Westport, and John Couto and his wife, Vivian, of Fall River; her seven grandchildren, Christopher Medeiros, Alexander Medeiros, Juliana Medeiros, Nathan Couto, Justin Couto, Kendra Martin, Maya Couto; three great-grandchildren, Casanova Medeiros, Dylan Brinca, and Hayley Brinca; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Olga Machado and Helena Sousa.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a private funeral was held on Saturday, October 10th, with her Funeral Mass in Good Shepherd Parish Church followed by her committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
