Gualter M. Lopes, 87, also known as "Taraco", of Fall River, passed away Saturday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Husband of Zenaida (Franco) Lopes. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Marcelino and Maria Lopes. In his younger days, Taraco was a well known soccer player in the Azores. He was a founding member of the Ateneu Luso American Club and loved painting. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Filomena Felix (husband-Lloyd); granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Felix, a sister, Maria Lopes, several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Eduardo, Renato, Carlos and Fernando Lopes and Fernanda Dias. His Funeral Mass was celebrated by Father Gastao Oliveira on Tuesday, August 14, in Santo Christo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
