Obituary

Guilherme L. Resendes, 91, of Fall River, husband of Maria Leandro (Pacheco-DaCosta) Resendes, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Francisco Leandro Resendes and the late Delores (Medeiros DaSilva) Resendes.

Prior to his retirement, he was a laborer in the local construction industry for years. He loved fishing and spent hours gardening as this brought him great joy. He also enjoyed making his own wine and homemade red crushed peppers. But what was most important to Guilherme was spending quality time with all of his family, especially his grandchildren. Guilherme lovingly instilled high morals and standards in his children and was so very proud of all of them.

Besides his devoted wife of sixty-two years, he leaves his five loving children, Alfred L. Resendes, William L. Resendes, Lucille L. Resendes, Anthony L. Resendes and his wife, Mary Sarkees, all of Fall River, and Arlene L. (Resendes) Alves and her husband, Richard C., Jr. of Dartmouth; his six grandchildren, William L. Resendes, Jr., Taina R. Troxler, Alandra M. Resendes, Angelene M. Goodbread, Connor R. Alves, and Joya O. Alves; five great-grandchildren, Gabriella C. Resendes, William L. Resendes, lll, Cohen Troxler, Benton Troxler, and Raelee Goodbread; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Olivia Resendes, Manuel Resendes, AlfredoResendes, Alberto Resendes, Gloria Resendes and Jose Resendes.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, August 10th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
