Guilherme S. Varao, 73, of Fall River, husband of Julieta (Rego) Varao, died 1/14/2010 at St. Anne's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Lagoa, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Jose & Maria Lucia (Galego) Varao, he emigrated to Fall River in 1969. Prior to his retirement he was employed in the local textile industry for many years. He was a member of Our Lady of Light Band Club. Besides his wife, of 47 years, he is survived by: 2 children, Steve Varao (wife-Bernadette) & Alice J. Cavanaugh (husband-Joseph) both of Fall River; 3 siblings, Augusto & Manuel Varao and Maria Cabral all of Fall River; 4 grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. He was also father of the late Aires Varao (wife-Dina M. (DaCunha) Varao); and brother of the late Jose S. & Joao Varao. Following his cremation, a Memorial Mass was celebrated on Friday (1/29) in Espirito Santo Church. Remembrances may be made to Hudner Oncology, 795 Middle St, Fall River MA 02721.
