Helen Souza, age 88, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. She was the widow of Joseph B. Souza. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Janick and the late Anna (Budzisz) Janick. A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was a seamstress, employed in the garment trade of this city for many years until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and an avid bingo player. Helen was a communicant of Saints Peter & Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church. Surviving family members include her daughter, Margaret "Peg" Marchand & her husband Atty. Robert Marchand of Fall River, a sister, Josephine Wenzelburger of Zelienople, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, Paul Marchand of Fall River, and Michael Marchand (wife Karen) of Reading, MA, two great grandchildren Holly K. Marchand of Fall River and Amelie R. Marchand, of Reading, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Louise Bernat, Sophie Silvia, Matthew Janick, Stanley Janick and Walter Janick. Following cremation, her Memorial Mass was offered in Holy Cross Church of Saints Peter & Paul Parish followed by a committal service for her cremated remains at St. Patrick Cemetery.
