Obituary

Henrietta DeMello, 76, of Westport, wife of Henry DeMello, passed away after a long private illness, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in the comforts of her home with her husband and children by her side. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Araujo and the late Mary (Pereira) Araujo.

She loved watching sports, coaching (especially basketball), shopping, and trips to the casino. An avid reader, she also enjoyed musical plays, the fine arts, and traveling with family to such places as Florida and Maine. However, by far, her greatest love was sharing time with her family.

Besides her husband of 56 years, she leaves her children, Henry J. DeMello and his wife, Stacey, Tracy Burt, Tom DeMello, Kenneth DeMello, all of Fall River, Michael DeMello and his fiancé, Dionne Melo, Kelly Zuber and her husband, Frederick, Katie B. DeMello and her companion, Tom DePriest, Danny DeMello, all of Westport, and David DeMello and his wife, Kayla, of Acushnet; her twenty grandchildren, Andrew, Mikey, Robbie, Madison, Kylie, Jayden, Benjamin, Dakota, Abbie, Matthew, Kaelyn, Boston, Quinn. Lyrehc, Georgia, Hudson, Bryce, Charlotte, Brynn, and Chance; six great-grandchildren, Shelby, Morgan, Bentley, Braxton, Rowan, and Greyson; her sister, Natalie Cabral (late husband, Edward) of Billerica; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Cheryl Ann DeMello and Thomas Manuel DeMello.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, September 12th, at St. George Church in Westport followed by a private committal. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Henrietta's memory to: Southcoast VNA, 200 Mill Road, Fairhaven, MA 02790.
