Henry V. "Hank" Velozo, 85, of Fall River, husband of Dolores (Santos) Veloza, died Monday 6/6/16 at home after an illness. Born in Somerset, son of the late Manuel & Frances (Cordeiro) Velozo, he moved to Fall River in 1954. He was a truck driver with Charlie's Oil Co. for many years, and also worked with Fall River Council On Aging until his retirement in 1996. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Elks of Fall River and the Tiverton Council Knights of Columbus, and former member of St Anthony's Band, as a trumpet player. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed bowling and playing golf, as well as dancing & traveling with his wife and gaming at the casinos. Besides his wife of 62 years, he leaves: 2 daughters, Sandra Cates (husband Brian) of Assonet, and Cindy Araujo (husband William) of Fall River; 3 sisters, Mary Cabral, Frances Provost, and Emily Velozo all of Somerset; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Russell, Stephanie Pereira, Amanda Cates Nardi, Keith Araujo, & Rachel Cates Perrella, and 9 great grandchildren, all whom he loved dearly; many nieces & nephews. Also brother of the late: Edwin & Charles Veloza, Manuel & Antone Velozo. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, June 9th, in Holy Rosary Church followed by his committal with military honors at St Patrick Cemetery.
