Herbert John Wetzel, 88, of Swansea, husband of Marie (Silva) Wetzel, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023. Born in New Bedford, a son of the late John and Irene Wetzel, he resided in Swansea since 1965.

Mr. Wetzel was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement he had worked for many years with ICI formerly of Dighton. An avid sports fan and coin collector, Herbert enjoyed spending time with family and going out for breakfast with his friends on Sundays.

Besides his wife, of 67 years, he is survived by: three children, Michael Wetzel of Swansea, Lisa Sullivan (husband David) of Nolanville, Texas, and Craig Wetzel (wife Rhonda) of Westerly, RI; four grandchildren, Jessica, Caitlin, Amanda, and Jordan; two great grandchildren, Avery and Skyler; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Evelyn Hotte, and Ernest and Robert Wetzel.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 22nd, at St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by a private committal with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
