Herman R. Mello, 89, of Fall River, husband of Cecilia (Proulx) Mello, died Thursday 5/20/10 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, son of the late Francisco R. & Maria (Motta) Mello, he was a lifelong resident of Fall River. He owned and operated the Morning Star Bakery for many years until his retirement in 1975. An army veteran of WWII, he was a life member of the VFW. He was also a member of St. Stanislaus Seniors and the Don Carlos Club. Besides his wife, of 61 years, he is survived by: 2 children, Robert S. Mello of Fall River and Kevin M. Mello of Yorba Linda,CA.; 4 grandchildren, Christian, Justin R. & Brittany Mello and Katie Mello Lutz; 4 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Keegan & Abigail; several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Agnes. His Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, June 1, in Holy Name Church. A private committal service followed at his family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery.
