Hilda J. Moniz, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 after a long illness surrounded by her family. She would have celebrated her 90 ^th birthday in March. Born Hilda Jacinto Mendonca in Taunton, MA, the daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina (Vieira) Mendonca, she grew up in Povoacao, Sao Miguel, Azores where she married her husband of 62 years, the late Manuel A. Moniz.

Hilda was a wife, mother, grandmother, and quintessential homemaker. Her compassion, generous spirit and zest for life touched everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by her four daughters, Beverly Nill (husband Stephen), Debra Moniz-Phillips (husband Richard) and Dorothy Moniz all of Tiverton, and Katherine Mairs (husband Robert) of Portsmouth, RI.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Nathaniel Nill, Sophia Mairs, Raquelle Mairs, Quinnton Mairs, Robert Mairs V, and Gyselle Mairs, along with several niece and nephews. Hilda was also the mother of the late Steven Paul Moniz; and the sister of the late Ricardo Mendonca and Fernando Mendonca.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, February 21st, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
