Hirondina "Maria" Ledo, 87, of Somerset, wife of the late Manuel A. Ledo, passed away peacefully on Friday after a long illness. Born in Fenais da Luz, St.Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late John and Francisca (Ferreira daSilva) Sousa. She was a machine operator in the local textile industry for many years prior to her retirement. She loved cooking, crocheting, sewing, and gardening. A devout Catholic, Maria also enjoyed volunteering for various church functions. But what was truly most important to her was her loving family. She leaves: her children, Joana M. Soares and her husband Arlindo of Dighton, Nora M. Garofalo and her husband Tim of Lakeville, Sylvester M. Ledo and his wife Susanne of Swansea, and Dennis Ledo and his wife Kathryn of Fairhaven; 7 grandchildren, Kelly O'Halloran, Justin Soares, Alisha Malone, Alex Ledo, Julia Ledo, Dominik Ledo, and Konlin Ledo; 3 great-grandchildren, Keira O'Halloran, Camryn O'Halloran, and Kye Malone; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joao Sousa, Olivia Costa, Silvino Sousa, Antonio Sousa, and Joanne Campos. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, August 22nd, in St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by her committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum in Fall River.
