Howard L. (Howie) Hayden, 62, of Warren, RI, formerly of Dighton, MA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. He is the husband of Sharon L. (Smith) Hayden, with whom he shared 40 years. He was born in Taunton, son of the late Julian and Frances (Constantine) Hayden. A Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne, he was also a member of the VFW and the Elks of Taunton. He owned and operated Hayden Construction and H&H Public Seating for 36 years. An avid Celtics fan, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, reading, and outdoor activities such as jogging, gardening, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his daughter, Kerri Hayden Mullen (husband, Sean) and grandchildren Olivia and Kaden of Easton, and his son Derrick Hayden (wife, Melanie) of Dighton; his siblings Kathryn Warish of Rehoboth, Julianne Jones (husband, Richard) of Las Vegas, NV, Paul Hayden (wife, Sandy) of Taunton, and Patricia Fleming (husband, William) of Daytona, FL; brothers- and sisters-in-law Carol Alves of Warwick, RI, Donna Nichols (husband, Sean) of Londonderry, NH, and David Smith (wife, Cindy) of Rehoboth; mother-in-law Pauline Smith of Rehoboth; and several nieces and nephews. Howie desired cremation; following a private family gathering, relatives and friends attended a celebration of his life on Wednesday, November 9th at the Dighton Community Church followed by military honors.
