Ilda Alves, 78, of Fall River, widow of Duarte Alves, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Miguel Medeiros and the late Maria Conceicao (Massa) Medeiros, she emigrated to Fall River in 1980.

She was employed the local textile industry for many years, retiring from the former Quaker Fabric at the time of its closure. A devout Catholic and active parishioner, Ilda was a member of the Espirito Santo Church Holy Rosary Society and help with church functions and the Holy Ghost feast. She enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, visiting casinos, cooking, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by: two daughters, Irene Silva (husband Jacinto) of Westport and Lucia Estrela (husband Paulo) of Fall River; three siblings, Manuel Medeiros (wife Maria) of Westport, Fernando Medeiros (wife Aldina) of Puerto Roco, and Lucia Silva (husband Afonso) of Westport; five grandchildren, Jesse Silva, Samantha Estrela, Brittany DeAndrade, Shawn Silva, and Jerika Estrela; one great granddaughter, Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, September 9th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
