Irene Costa, 86, of Somerset, widow of William Costa, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Ajuda da Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Luis Medeiros and the late Francisca (dos Reis) Medeiros.

Prior to her retirement, she had worked in the local textile industry for many years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by: four children, James V. Costa of Plymouth, Ana Maria Costa of Somerset, Paula LeBreux (husband Henry) of Fall River, and Jennifer Sousa (husband Luciano) of Somerset; a sister, Nelly Carvalho of Somerset; nine grandchildren, Jamie Costa, Angela Reis, Jeffrey Costa, Kristen Crossman, Kelsey Soares, Justin Reis, Alex Sousa, Tatianna Sousa, and Jordan Sousa; six great grandchildren, Nevaeh Holley, Phoebe Costa, Amari Reis, Maeve Costa, Nora Soares, and Myles Soares; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Nancy Gervasio (husband Antonio of Somerset); grandmother of the late Robert Gervasio; and sister of the late Joe Medeiros, Hilda Raposo, and Mary Furtado.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, June 30th, at St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
