Irene M. (Matos) Ferreira, 78, of Fall River, widow of Manuel M. Ferreira, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Mosteiros, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose Pavao and the late Maria C. (Matos) Pavao, she emigrated to Fall River in 1977.

Prior to her retirement, she had worked for many years in the local garment industry, at the former Whaling Mfg. Irene was an active parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Church, as a former Eucharistic minister and Lecter, as well as a member of their charismatic group. She also enjoyed visiting, and praying the rosary for, residents of nursing homes, especially those who were sick.

She is survived by: three children, Roy Ferreira (wife Jen) of Palm Coast, Florida, Sandra Moniz (husband Fernando) of Fall River, and Anna Ferreira of Melbourne, FL; four siblings, Mary Joe Medeiros of Westport, Leontina Medeiros of Fall River, Tony Pavao of Swansea, and Connie Pavao Almeida of Fall River; six grandchildren, Crystal Ferreira, Mathew Ferreira, Brandon Moniz, Nicholas Moniz, Talia Dustin, and Tori Dustin; one great granddaughter, Amelia; and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, November 3rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
