Irene Gouveia, 91, of Fall River, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel P. Gouveia and the late Noemia (Ferreira) Gouveia.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years with various companies in the local garment industry and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (I.L.G.W.U.) now called UNITE. Irene then worked for a number of years providing cleaning services at Fall River Obstetrical Associates. She also worked in the Durfee High School lunch program.

A devout Catholic and active parishioner at Espirito Santo Church, Irene was also a member of its Holy Rosary Society. In recognition of her exemplary service and dedication to the church, she was awarded the Marian Medal. Family and the church were everything to Irene.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Gouveia (wife Frances) of Westport, a sister-in-law, Silvina Gouveia, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irene was predeceased by her brother, Antonio Gouveia.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 29th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
