Irene Habib, 89, of Westport, wife of Nassip "Joe" Habib, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Hathaway Manor, New Bedford, after an illness. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Manuel S. & Belmira (Amaral) Pacheco. She had worked at the former Fall River Knitting Mills for over 45 years, prior to her retirement in 1990.

Besides her husband, of 70 years, she is survived by: two sisters-in-law, Elaine R. Hebert of Fairhaven, and Margaret Pacheco of Fall River; many niece & nephews; and several cousins & godchildren. The most precious things in life to Irene were the wonderful memories of her late son, Gary Joseph Habib.

She was also a sister of the late Arthur Pacheco, Rev. Msgr. Agostinho Pacheco, Mary Mosher, Manuel S. Pacheco Jr., and Idalina "Dolly" Perry. Irene had the most beautiful smile and personality – and, oh how she enjoyed all the family get-togethers.

We will miss her delicious pastries, fun & laughter – but what lovely memories we have. All her pain and grief now gone. She is Safely Home at last.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, December 23rd, in St Anthony of the Desert Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
