Irene M. Medeiros, 88, of Fall River, widow of Antonio Pavao Medeiros, died Wednesday 1/5/11 at home after a long illness. Born in São Vicente, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Francisco B. & Luisa C. (Cabral) Oliveira, she emigrated to Fall River in 1970. She worked in the local textile industry for many years until retiring in 1982 and was a member of the former Our Lady of Health Church Holy Rosary Sodality. Mother of Maria P. Sousa (husband-Manuel) & Carlos Medeiros (wife-Miki) of Fall River, Luisa Carrelas (husband-Marcelino) of Westport, and the late Antonio, Duarte & Fernando Pavao. Sister of Odilia Vieira of Canada, and the late Olivia Monteiro, Aldina Correia & Joao Bento. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, January 10th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by a committal service at Notre Dame Cemetery.
