Irene Mello, 81, of Fall River, wife of the late Fernando P. Mello, passed away peacefully on Monday after a brief illness. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Georgianna (Costa) Albernaz. An avid Red Sox fan, she also loved to cook, bake, bowl, and dine out at her favorite restaurants, The Venus deMilo and The Olive Garden.  Irene enjoyed having her hair and nails done on a weekly basis,  always keeping herself looking and feeling like the beautiful woman she was.  She also enjoyed travelling to such places as Disney World, Italy, Cancun, Las Vagas, and Portugal. She leaves: her children, David M. Mello and his wife Susan of Somerset, Paul F. Mello and his wife Patty of Bridgewater, Michael  A. Mello and his wife Lisa of Somerset, Susan M. Mello of Somerset, Deborah A. Coelho and her husband Louis of Fall River, and Cheryl A. Fournier and her husband Paul of Dartmouth; six grandchildren, Brittany L. Coelho, Jennifer Mello, Lauren E. Mello, Logan M. Mello, India L. Mello, and Levi Fournier; two step-grandchildren, Nicholas Whittemore and Rachael Whittemore; one great-grandchild, Landyn Louis Coelho; a brother, Robert Albernaz and his wife Vicky of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Richard Albernaz. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, June 29th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
