Irene M. (Victorine) Motta, 76, of Swansea, entered into eternal rest on March 30, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Joseph Motta, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Gertrude (Perry) Victorine. A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, she attended the former Thibodeau Business College. She was employed at Plymouth Mortgage Company and FirstFed until her retirement. She enjoyed politics, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Couto and her husband Richard of Rehoboth; sons David Motta of Fall River, Steven Motta and his wife Julie of Lincoln, RI and Michael Motta and his wife Donna of Assonet; a sister Alice V. Weems of Fall River, grandchildren Jason, Grace, Kelsie, Amanda, Ashley, Nicholas, Katie and Luke as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Mary Greaves. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in Saint Francis of Assisi Church. Pallbearers were Albert Weems, Raymond Medeiros, Jim Greaves and Richard Greaves. Irene was laid to rest at Vinnicum Woods Cemetery, Swansea. Memorial donations my be made in her name to VNA of Southeastern MA, 502 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA 02720
