Irene Rebello, 86, of Westport, widow of Arthur "Slim" Rebello, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 24th, 2014 at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Tiverton, daughter of the late Manuel Rego Costa and the late Mary (Cabral) Costa, she resided in Westport for most of her life. A member of ILGWU (now UNITE), she was employed in the textile industry for many years, and in her retirement worked as a lunch lady at William S. Greene School for 15 years. She enjoyed vacationing, in Florida and New Hampshire, and especially her many getaways to Cape Cod. She was the beloved mother of Debra McCarthy (husband Norman Jr) & Susan Dumas (husband Paul) both of Westport. Sister of John R. Costa, Doris Mello & Claudette Dubreuil all of Fall River, and the late Manuel & William Costa, she also leaves 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 28, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
