Irene Vital, 96, of Somerset, the beloved wife of the late David Vital, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at her home.  Born in Fall River, Irene was the daughter of the late Manuel S. Rebello and Lillian (Chenard) Rebello.

A proud graduate of Bryant College with a degree in accounting, Irene built a career rooted in dedication and precision.  She worked in the Finance Office of the Somerset School Department while also managing the books for the family's Pepperidge Farm Cookie franchise.

Irene and Dave shared a love of travel and the joy of time with friends.  They camped and square danced together spending many happy years traveling in camp trailers and motor coaches, forming lasting friendships through FMCA, the Good Sam Club, and other camping groups.  Irene also cherished quiet moments—reading, crocheting, cheering on the Patriots and Bruins, and, above all, spending time with her family.

Her faith was a constant throughout her life.  A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Parish in Somerset and, in later years, also attended St. John of God while participating in local prayer groups.

Irene leaves behind a loving family: her children, Carol Desmarais of Swansea; David Vital and his wife Jeanne of Concord, NC; and James Vital of Somerset; her grandchildren, Keenan Vital and his wife Victoria, and Nicole Licata and her husband Joseph; and her great-granddaughter, Zoe.

A private service was held at Silva-Faria Somerset Funeral Home followed by burial at St. Patrick Cemetery in Somerset.
