Isabel de Freitas Necchi, age 72, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010, at the Crawford Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fall River, following an extended illness. She was the widow of Flavio Necchi. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she was a daughter of the late Jose Bento de Freitas and the late Sebastiana (Fonseca) de Freitas. After residing in Brazil for twenty-six years, she moved to Fall River in 1964 and was naturalized as an American Citizen in 1974. Isabel worked as a sewing machine operator for many years at the former C & C Curtain Co. in Fall River and was also employed at the former Ideal Laundry. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Surviving family members include he daughter, Sandra Helena Necchi of Brooklyn, NY, a brother, Silas Fonseca de Freitas of Rio de Janeiro, two sisters, Elydia de Freitas Antao and Anita de Freitas Carreiro, both of Fall River, and many nieces and nephews. On Friday, February 19, 2010, friends and family gathered for a funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church. After the service, pallbearers Joe Carreiro, Tony Necchi, Brandon Moniz, Lazarus Carreiro, Solomon Carreiro, and John Silva brought Isabel to her final resting place in Oak Grove Cemetery.
