Obituary

Jacinto T. Pacheco, 77, of Swansea, husband of Mary (Paiva) Pacheco, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 20, 2018 after a long illness. Born in Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Moniz and Beatriz Tavares (Rebelo) Pacheco. Jacinto served in the Portuguese military for two years before coming to the United States in 1964. He worked in the local textile industry for many years prior to his retirement. An avid sports fan, he especially loved the Bruins and Benfica. He also enjoyed going on cruises and traveling with family to such places as Jerusalem, Italy, Rome, Greece, Turkey, and his homeland in the Azores.  Very friendly and outgoing, he was considered the "life of the party", always making everyone laugh. Besides his wife of fifty-two years, he leaves: a brother, Manuel T. Pacheco and his wife Teresa of Fall River; two sisters, Beatriz Vieira and her husband Luis and Maria da Conceicao Anselmo and her husband Diniz of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jose Tavares Pacheco and Maria Rosa Tavares. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, January 25th, in Espírito Santo Church followed by his committal and entombment in the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
