Jacqueline C. “Jackie” Martin, 89, of Johnston, RI, formerly of Fall River, widow of John P. Martin, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Morgan Rehab Healthcare of Johnston, RI. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Herminio Borges and the late Regina (Medeiros) Borges.
Homemaker for most of her life, Mrs. Martin had also worked as a sample maker in the local textile industry for a number of years and was a member of the “ILGWU” (International Ladies Garment Workers Union) now called UNITE. Jackie enjoyed snow skiing and was an avid tennis player. With a creative talent, she also enjoyed drawing & painting in various mediums (to include pastels), pottery, and macrame.
She is survived by: two children, Scott Martin (wife Lori) of Cranston, RI, and Nicole Abuzarifah (husband Khalid) of Saudi Arabia; a sister, Germaine “Evelyn” Lima of Fall River; four grandchildren, Scott C. J. Martin, Olivia Martin, Nora Abuzarifah, and Ghazi Abuzarifah; her friend and companion, Michael Parker; and several nieces and nephews. Jacqueline was predeceased by her siblings, Antone Borges, Fernando Borges, and James Borges.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 9:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in Holy Name Church at 10:00 am. Committal Service and interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
