James E. Dion, 65, of Fall River, husband of Madeline (Furtado) Dion, died Tuesday 5/7/13 at home after a long illness. Born in Fall River, son of the late James & Ann (Burke) Dion, he was a lifelong resident, working in the local textile industry for many years. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing softball, pool & cards (pitch), and bowling, in various local leagues – earning US Nat'l Duckpin high score honors in 1980. Father of James, Michael & the late Richard Dion; Stepfather of Michele, Lisa & Donald Copeland, and Lori Carroca; brother of Jean Oswald, Paul, Bob & Steve Dion. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, several nieces & nephews, and a favorite pet cat named Pete ("Grandpa's Boy"). His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 10, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
