James J. Thorpe, 69, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday. Husband of the late Lucille (Kouby) Thorpe. Born in Fall River, son of Lillian (L'Heureux) Thorpe and the late James Thorpe. He was a cement finisher for most of his life. Beloved father of Lynn Gonsalves (husband-Christopher) of Westport, Lisa Kaio (husband-Matini) of Chicopee, Jeffrey Thorpe (wife-Kim) of Swansea, Jerry Thorpe (wife-Karen) of TN and the late James A. Thorpe; brother of Gerry Thorpe, Joanne Mello, Lillian Paulo, Anita Davis and the late Madeline Bassett. He also leaves his late son, James A. Thorpe's fiancée, Heidi Liebl of Swansea, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Following his cremation, a memorial service was held on Thursday, February 6, in our Fall River chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to a charity of your choice.
