James "Starlight" Cambra, Sr., 84, of Fall River, husband of Maria (Souza) Cambra, died Friday 12/4/09 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in, and a lifelong resident of, Fall River, son of the late Carlos P. & Maria Valentina (Aguiar) Cambra, he was employed at Davis Screen, formerly of Fall River, until his retirement in 1998 and worked as a crossing guard at Coughlin School. An Army veteran of World War II, he was also captain of the Fall River Auxiliary Police and a 4th degree honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Boehr Council. Besides his wife, of 61 years, he leaves: 3 children, James Cambra Jr. (wife Esther) of Tiverton, RI, Donna Cambra (fiancé Eddie Almeida) of Swansea and Carolyn Donovan of Fall River; 3 grandchildren, Daniel Raymond Jr., Lori Ann Knarr & Kevin S. Donovan; 6 great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Liam, Matthew, Jason, Kevin Jr. & Abigail; several nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, Christine, Cathy, Judy & Gloria. He was also brother of the late Hilda Souza, Everett & Antone Cambra. On Wednesday, 12/09/09, friends and family gathered at the funeral home before departing for a Funeral Mass at Espirito Santo Church. Following the service, pallbearers Daniel Raymond Jr., Kevin Donovan, Eddie Almeida, Anthony Cambra, Frank Raposo, and Robert Raposo brought James to his final resting place in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
