Obituary

Janet D. Sullivan, 87, of Somerset, long-time companion of John "Pappy" Tacovelli, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2022 in the comforts of her home after a long illness. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late George Furtado and the late Angelina (Farias) Furtado.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Diocese of Fall River as a housekeeper for many years. She was an avid Broncos fan, and on Sunday's, you could always find her at the nearest yard sale. She loved cooking, shopping, fancy jewelry, especially diamonds and gold, and she cherished her fur coats. Christmas was her favorite holiday and her house always looked like the North Pole. She was firm in her Catholic faith, and she never missed a Christmas Eve midnight mass at St. Anne's Church. She resided in Cape Canaveral, Florida with Pappy and her wonderful dog, Jasmine. She loved living in Florida, the warm and sunny weather was her favorite. She was most at peace when she was near the ocean, she would stay there all day and lie in the sun, and at night she would fall asleep to 'ocean sounds' on her cassette player. Janet loved camping every summer, and traveling in her RV. Janet was an absolute legend, and she will be greatly missed. But what was most important to Janet was spending quality time with her family.

She leaves her daughters, Jodi Dupras of Somerset, and Lori Botelho and Michael Hoar, of Fall River; her four grandchildren, Justin Dupras, Alicia Botelho, Stephanie Dupras, and Alexis Dupras; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Dupras, Jr., Kaine Dupras, Kaden Dupras, Layla Jones, Amelia Freeborn, Kensley Dupras, and Sophia Evans; her two sisters, Rose Trapp and her companion, Don Henry, of Florida and Marion Seymour and Jerry Seymour of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joyce Fitzpatrick and Joan Orten.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, January 10th, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River followed by her committal at Mount Hope Cemetery in Swansea.
