Jeffrey J.
Alves
d. May 31, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Jay Alves, age 65, who died on May 31, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida. Born on April 5, 1960, Jeff was the beloved son of Shirley (Briggs) Alves and the late Daniel Alves.
Jeff grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts, where he spent many years working as an auto body mechanic. Later, he began a long and dedicated career with The Home Depot, serving as a manager in several Massachusetts locations for over 25 years. Eventually, he was offered the opportunity to manage a store in Pensacola, Florida—a move that marked the beginning of a new and fulfilling chapter. He quickly fell in love with the Sunshine State and often joked that he'd never endure another snowstorm again.
In Pensacola, Jeff found a new passion through his involvement with the local American Legion, where he proudly served as an officer. He found deep meaning in volunteering, forming lasting friendships, and giving back to the community he cherished.
Jeff had a deep love for the outdoors and staying active. He enjoyed gardening, tending to his koi pond, riding his Harley-Davidson, zipping around on his jet skis, and spending time at the beach. Every summer, he looked forward to returning to Massachusetts to spend a treasured week on Cape Cod with his family—a tradition that will never be the same without him.
He is survived by his loving mother, Shirley (Briggs) Alves of Uxbridge, MA; his devoted son, Jeffrey Alves II, and his wife, Jill, of Fall River, MA; and his cherished granddaughter, Emma Alves. He is also survived by two brothers, Dan Alves and his wife, Ann, of Douglas, MA, and Keith Alves and his wife, Jean, of Uxbridge, MA; as well as his niece, Amanda Alves; nephews, Danny and Kevin Alves; and many loving cousins and friends. Jeff will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Jeff also leaves behind his beloved life partner of 25 years, Mary Aiello; her children, Krystina Worthy of Yulee, FL, and Joe Aiello of Oxford, AL; and her grandchildren, McKinley, Logan, Kameron, and Connor. Jeff embraced them all as family and truly cherished his role as "Papa Jeff."
The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital and De Luna Rehabilitation Center for the kindness, compassion, and attentive care they showed Jeff during his time with them. Their support meant so much to him—and to all of us.
Following his cremation in Florida, a Memorial Service was held on Monday, June 23rd, during a visitation period at our Fall River Chapel. Family and friends warmly shared stories, memories, and a few words of love and remembrances of Jeff's Life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jeff's name to the American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org ; or, Amazing Grace Bully Rescue, https://amazinggracebullyrescue.rescuegroups.org ; to help a shelter dog in need:
