Jesse R. Martin, age 78, of Fall River, passed away on January 18, 2010. He was the son of the late Jesse & Maria (Taveira) Martin. Jesse graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1950 and attended Bradford Durfee Technical Institute. He worked for his uncle, John Taveira, who owned Taveira Beef & Provisions. When Mr. Taveira retired, Jesse, along with his cousin Louis Rosa, took over the business until their own retirement in 1993. For close to thirty years Jesse also worked at Our Lady of Health Credit Union in Fall River. He is survived by: 3 children, Christine Martin-Santos, Jesse J. & Robert J. Martin; 3 sisters, Mary Martin, Louise Iadacola & Virginia Grinnell; 1 grandchild, Brooke Santos; and his close companion, Sheila Lake, and her two children, Julie and Tom, and their families. Cremation arrangements were with Silva-Faria Funeral Home. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be offered Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Holy Trinity Parish Church, Stafford Road, Fall River, at 11:00 am. Omit Flowers.
