Jessica Andrea Ortiz

   Jessica Andrea Ortiz, 31, of Fall River, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital, the result of injuries sustained as a pedestrian victim in a motor vehicle accident on July 19, 2026.  Born in Ecuador, a daughter of Fausto Ortiz and Blanca Anguizaca, she emigrated to Fall River in 2007.

   A medical assistant with SouthCoast Health Urgent Care of Dartmouth for over five years, Jessica was a Class of 2016 graduate of UMass Dartmouth, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.  She enjoyed hiking, walking her dog, Leo, and participating in the Mano de Maria (Mary’s Hand) prayer group – as she was a very devout Catholic.

   Besides her parents of Fall River, she is survived by two siblings, Freddy and Sherley Ortiz, both of Fall River, and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

   Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

   Her Funeral will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 9:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral at 10:00 am.  Committal Service and interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
