Joanne T. Barao, 71, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Hamilton, Bermuda, she was a daughter of Mariana (Machado) Barao and the late Manuel Barao.

Prior to retirement, she worked as a presser in the local garment industry for many years. A devout Catholic and parishioner of the former Our Lady of Health Church, Joanne loved to be involved in all the activities of her church and participated in many Holy Ghost Feasts over the years. She also enjoyed traveling to such places as the Azores.

Besides her mother, she leaves: her sisters, Maria Carvalho and her husband, Antonio, of Fall River, and Fatima Tremblay and her husband, David, of West Wareham; her brothers, Antonio Baron and his wife, Fatima, of Somerset; and Paul Barao and Bert Barao and his wife, Dawn, both of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Raymond Barao, Peter Barao, and Humberto Barao.

Her Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, January 12th, following a visitation period in our Fall River Chapel. Her private committal followed at Notre Dame Cemetery.
