Joanne (DiGangi) Soares, age 75, died peacefully at home surrounded by beloved family and friends on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. Born in Boston she lived most of her life in Somerset and Fall River. She was the wife of 56 years to Ronald Soares and mother of Kenneth Soares (wife Lori), Jeffery Soares (wife Traci), and pre-deceased by her beloved daughter Jaqueline Soares and her beloved pug Boo; Grandmother to Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Holly, and Ryan Soares; Sister to Barbara DiGangi and Fleurette Novak. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and her friend Pam Giuliano who selflessly cared for Joanne during her last days. Joanne loved the ocean and enjoyed boating with her family and friends. She enjoyed many a summer day by the shore at the many area beaches. She also made many winter visits with her husband Ron, to the shores of Florida. Joanne enjoyed cooking for her family whom she was very proud of. She was unapologetically opinionated, enjoyed lively discussions about politics, was an avid Patriot's football fan, and would be the first to say she had the most wonderful life. She was also a dedicated employee for over 28 years at Citizens for Citizens on Griffin Street. In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Joanne can be made to: Patient & Caregiver Fund at Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care, 206 Mill Road, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Following her cremation, a visitation period was held in our Fall River Chapel on Thursday, October 25th. The next morning her Funeral Mass was celebrated in Holy Name Church.
