Joao Clemente Avila Alves, 58, of Fall River, husband of Lucilia (Cordeiro) Alves, passed away unexpectedly at St. Anne's Hospital on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.

Born in Praia de Victoria, Terceira, Azores, he was a son of the late Candido and Maria Alves.

Prior to his retirement, he was a painter in the construction industry for many years. Joao was a kind and giving man who would help anyone in need.

Besides his wife of thirty-five years, he leaves; his son, Sergio Alves and his wife, Patricia, of Fall River; a sister, Orlanda Machado of Terceira, Azores; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Candido Machado.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 23rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
