Joao Cabral DeMelo, 65, of Eastern Ave., passed away Thursday after a brief illness. Husband of Fatima (Rego) DeMelo. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, son of Almedina (Oliveira) DeMelo and the late Joao C. DeMelo. Before his retirement, he was a supervisor at Quaker Fabrics for many years. He was an avid fan of Porto soccer team. Beloved father of Naomi Melo-Holmes (husband – Victor) and Cristina Melo; grandfather of Bryce and Brooke Holmes; brother of Joseph Mello and Fernanda Melo. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 16, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
