Obituary

João Gaudêncio, 77, husband of Maria Carmelia (Raposo) Gaudencio, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 after a brief illness. Born in Remédios, Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Miguel Gaudencio and the late Conceição (Freitas) Gaudencio.

Prior to his retirement he worked as a forklift operator in the local textile industry for many years. He loved playing the violin in the Folia do Espírito Santo. A very talented and skilled woodworker, he also enjoyed grilling and, most importantly, spending quality time with his loving family.

Besides his wife of fifty-two years, he leaves: his children, Sandy Moniz and her husband, Gilberto, and Michael Gaudencio and his companion, Courtney Wyatt, both of Fall River; his two grandsons, Conner Jacob Moniz and Owen Mitchell Moniz; sisters, Natalia Massa (late husband, Honorato) and Dorvalina Botelho and her husband, José, both of the Azores; one brother, Antonio Gaudencio (late wife, Emarciana) of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Laureano Gaudencio.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, April 16th, in Espírito Santo Church followed by his private committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
