Joao Jose Botelho, 84, of Westport, husband of Elisete (Lopes) Botelho, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Hildeberto Botelho and the late Valentina (Barbosa) Botelho.

Prior to retirement, Joao worked as a Plant Manager at Hamilton Web. He previously worked at Quaker Fabric as a Quality Control Inspector and owned Mutche’s Shoe Repair in Attleboro.

Besides his wife, Joao leaves his children: Bert Botelho and his wife Sue, John Botelho Jr. and his wife Lina, and Deborah Marques and her husband Mario; grandchildren Nate Botelho, Timothy Marques and his wife Rebecca Silva-Marques, Rebecca Gomes and her husband Fernando Gomes, Shelby Arruda and her husband Kyle Arruda, Andrew Botelho and his wife Marisa Botelho, Krystal Arsenault and her husband Taylor Arsenault, Jared Botelho and his wife Nikki Botelho and Daniel Marques and his wife Breanna Marques; Great Grandchildren: Ezequiel Silva, Levi Marques, Gabriella Marques, Emma Gomes, Penelope Botelho, Zoey Botelho, Nolan Gomes, Avery Botelho, Nate Botelho Jr., Sienna Arsenault, Evelynn Botelho, Brielle Marques, Allie Arruda, Dakota Arsenault, and Elliott Botelho; siblings: Bert Botelho, Deborah Tarbox, and Loide Biegel and her husband Larry; and many nieces and nephews.

Following a private cremation, His Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, June 30th, at Christ the Rock Church in Fall River.
