Joao Lima, 67, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Edmund Lima Correia and the late Elvira (Rodrigues) Correia.

Prior to his retirement, he worked in shipping and receiving at Dover Stamp Manufacturing for many years. An avid Benfica fan, he also, in his younger years, loved playing soccer. Joao also enjoyed the beach, gardening, and making his own wine.

He leaves: his loving brother and sisters, Edmundo "Manny" Correia, Susan M. Arruda and her husband, James, and Cidalia Correia., all of Fall River; and his nephew, Jaime Arruda.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Joao's funeral arrangements were private. When the current crisis allows, his family is planning to celebrate his life with a Memorial Funeral Mass at a later date, which will be announced here.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support.
