Joao Miguel Cabral, better known as 'Joao Chinela', age 91, passed away at home, with his loving family at his bedside, on Monday, September 10, 2012. He was the husband of the late Angelina Guiomar Arruda. A resident of Fall River since 2008, he was born in Freguesia de Bretanha, Ponta Delgada, on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. He was a son of the late Jose Bernardo Cabral and the late Silvana Miguel. Residing in Sao Miguel for forty eight years, he was a Veteran of the Portuguese Army and labored in agriculture for many years. In 1969 he moved to Toronto, Canada. Joao was a communicant of Espirito Santo Church on Alden Street in Fall River. Surviving family members include his seven children; Jose Antone Cabral of Westport, MA, Eduardo A. Cabral of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, Maria Rosa Viveiros of Sao Miguel, Maria dos Neves Frazao of Fall River, Ana Cabral of Toronto, Rita Medeiros and Laureno Cabral, both of Brampton, seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated by Father Henry Arruda on Friday, September 14, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
