Joao Raposa, 87, husband of the late Mary Isabel (Pavao) Raposa, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Ajuda Bretanha, on the isle of Sao Miguel, in the Azores, son of the late Jose Raposa Albernaz and the late Maria Z. Raposa, he emigrated to Fall River in 1956 and worked as a supervisor at Whaling Mfg for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

An active parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, he was a member of its Holy Name Society and a Eucharistic minister. He enjoyed taking walks and spending time with his family.

He is survived by: four children, Deborah Sousa (husband Gabe) of Westport, Donald Raposa of Westport, David Raposa (wife Dawn) of Smithfield, RI, and Derrick Raposa (wife Nicole) of Seekonk; five grandchildren, Ryan Sousa, Lindsay Raposa, Avery Raposa, Isabel Raposa & Matthew Raposa; and many nieces & nephews. He was also the brother of the late Maria DeMelo.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 2nd, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
