Joao C. Rego, 89, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Southpointe Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Maria Margarida (Viveiros) Rego. Born in St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Francisco and Christina Rego, in the late 1960s he emigrated to Fall River, where he lived most of his life, having moved to Somerset 12 years ago from Swansea where ha also lived a few years.

Prior to his retirement, he had worked for many years at the former American Dryer (now Whirlpool) of Fall River. He had also worked for a time at Duro Textile Printers formerly of Fall River.

He is survived by: a son, Joseph Rego of Somerset; a daughter, Belmira Deschenes (husband Raymond) of Somerset; two grandchildren, Bryan Deschenes and Dylan Deschenes; a great grandson, Brody; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Maria Borges and Diamentina, Conceicao, Alfred, and Francisco Rego.

His Funeral Service was held on Monday, September 12th, in our Fall River Chapel followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
